Diary of a CEO

Welcome to Diary of a CEO – Cycling Edition.

I’m Raymund Afoakwa, founder and CEO of Raymund Afoakwa Consulting — or, as my team and I like to call it, the place where engineering precision meets sporting obsession.

Now, before you picture a grey-suited corporate strategist holding a PowerPoint clicker, let’s set the scene straight: my boardroom smells faintly of chain lube, carbon dust, and ambition. My meetings are as likely to happen trackside in Belgium as they are over espresso in a London café. This is high-performance sport meets high-performance thinking.

I built this consultancy not to sell bikes, but to engineer speed — for those who live and breathe the margins between victory and second place. We work with Olympic athletes, national federations, and world-class brands to push the limits of what’s possible on two wheels. From the UCI-approved Supermond track bike to cutting-edge collaborations with Body Rocket, Streamlines Aero, FMB Tires, Hezo 3D-printed shoes, and Flow Bio’s sweat sensors — our projects blend science, technology, and just the right dose of madness.

I like to think of it as the Formula 1 of cycling, only with fewer pit stops and more leg day.

This blog series will be my behind-the-scenes journal — a glimpse into what it’s like building a global high-performance consultancy from the ground up. Expect a little business insight, a touch of engineering nerdery, and the occasional travel story from wind tunnels to velodromes (and the bars that follow them).

We’ll talk about the economics of speed, the politics of performance, and what it really means to turn an obsession into a company. There will be deals, there will be design debates, and yes — there will be drama.

So, whether you’re a city boy with a Cervélo, a venture capitalist who can drop 400 watts (on a good day), or just someone who appreciates the finer things in motion — welcome to the ride.

Because in my world, performance isn’t a goal; it’s a lifestyle.
